Prone To Crime in Area Behind UNS

Recently, several areas behind UNS such as Surya street and Kabut street have made students restless because of the amount of criminality.

There are a lot of crimes going on in the area and it makes students who live there feel uneasy and unsafe. Crimes that occur in the area include theft, stabbing, harassment, and so on. Many students are victims of this crime, but no one has managed to catch the perpetrators of these crimes, so the perpetrators are still wandering in the area. This situation made the students more nervous because the perpetrators had not yet been arrested.

In order to avoid similar incidents, residents and students remind each other not to leave the house or boarding house more than 10 pm. If there is an urgent need, they had to ask someone to accompany them, not go out alone. In addition, students must ensure always lock the door of their house or boarding house to avoid theft.

Some sources say that criminals carried penknife to commit crimes. Therefore, students should avoid quiet places. If they encounter suspicious people, they must immediately find a crowded safe place.

Students who feel unsafe because of this condition report this problem to Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the mayor of Surakarta. They hope that Raka can solve the problem for mutual safety.

Responding to reports related to crimes that occurred around UNS, Raka said "We will follow up on this problem with the Surakarta Police Chief".
